GIVE YOUR WORD AND MEAN IT

GIVE YOUR WORD AND MEAN IT

It seems now a days giving your word does not hold as much weight any longer. For the most part, many say things that they really do not mean. Many speak what sounds good at that moment and others say things just for the sake of saying them but never intending on doing any of what they just spoke.

If each of us would take some time to recognize the importance of speaking things that we mean and not saying otherwise; this would actually help many! If you are not sure about what you are about to say, do not say it! If it may cause pain to someone, do not say it! If you know you really do not mean what you are saying, stop speaking! Stroking someone with your speech can also get you in trouble and possibly put you in very awkward situation.

Say what you mean, and mean what you are saying! This simple truth and act will help you in many situations and settings. It can avoid conflict, pain, distractions and even possibly insecurities in someone else. We must come to understand how much weight our words really hold. The fact is that you become less believable when you are speaking things that are not truth and things that you do not intend to do. Think before you talk, consider the words that are filling your mind and what truly is your intention in your speech!

If you know what you are about to say, can and will hurt you and possibly someone else, why not just control yourself and not speak it out? It is harder to forget the words someone spoke at times and to see past the intention of why these things were said. So many just speak from what they are thinking and never once consider how what they are saying may affect the situation they find themselves in.

How about you take some time to examine your speech and the people you allow yourself to speak to and those around you! Although, you may not think this is affecting you, it is and everything concerning you. There are times you could be dealing with anger and disgust over the words someone has spoken and if not dealt with correctly, without your intention, you now can begin to speak the same ugly way to others. This is why it is important to consider your speech and understand why you may be speaking the way you are.

There are circumstances that may cause us to speak genuinely in anger and regret and other times we may speak out of just wanting to defend ourselves. Remember that every word you are speaking leaves an imprint, whether meant for good or evil. This is why if you do not mean what you are saying; it is of the utmost importance that you work on the words you are allowing yourself to speak. This comes with a conscious decision to change and become more aware of the way you have been speaking and the way you have allowed others to speak to you and around you. Although, you may feel justified in your words or even in how you have allowed someone else to speak; remember there is a result and an outcome that comes with every choice and every word spoken whether by us or the words we have come in agreement with.

Let me know how this has encouraged you and in what ways you see that you have had to change the way you speak or the way you have allowed others to speak around you and to you!
