Let’s welcome Anthony Gaenzle, CMO at Sharp Innovations as he shares as a guest writer on the topic of “Supporting Each Other Matters more than ever in digital marketing and content creation.

If you’re active on social media or anywhere online today, you likely noticed it feels louder now than ever before. We face more noise, an overload of content, algorithm shifts, and constant changes.

Platforms change the rules. New tools, new formats, new “best practices” seem to appear every week (even every day). There are hundreds of zettabytes ( that’s trillions of gigabytes) of content out there floating around. It’s a wild, noisy place.

In the middle of all that noise, it’s easy for marketers and content creators  to narrow their focus to a handful of metrics (rankings, traffic, impressions, follower counts) and treat growth like a zero-sum game.

That mindset is understandable. We’re all trying to build something. But it’s also incomplete. Because while competition can push us forward, collaboration and mutual support are often what create lasting momentum for individuals, brands, and the broader digital ecosystem.

So, how do you stand a chance, right? You don’t. Not alone anyway. But, when you learn to play well with others, the sky is the limit. Let’s take a look at how we can rise up above the noise when we work together.

Succeeding as a Digital Marketer or Content Creator wasn’t Meant to Be a Solo Sport

Digital marketing and content creation are often framed as individual pursuits: my site, my rankings, my audience. But the reality is that the internet has always thrived on connection. Marketers and creators with a growth mindset understand this and thrive.

Search engines reward authority and relevance. Social platforms reward engagement and conversation.

Search engines reward authority and relevance. Social platforms reward engagement and conversation. Readers reward trust and authenticity. None of those things are built in isolation. As much as you want to take credit, you know deep inside that many other “someones” helped lift you up along the way.

When we support one another by sharing insights, amplifying good work, engaging thoughtfully, or even disagreeing respectfully, we strengthen the entire ecosystem. And in doing so, we often strengthen our own position more than we realize.

Supportive Engagement Builds Real Visibility

Thoughtful engagement on platforms like X or LinkedIn isn’t just about being “nice” or boosting vanity metrics. It’s about participating in conversations that matter. For example, you wouldn’t be reading this article right now if my journey on X hadn’t crossed paths with Pastor Natalie

We connected maybe a year and a half back through a conversation on an X post. Since then, we’ve chatted quite a bit here and there, and as the collaboration grew, I reached out about contributing a guest post. Natalie said “yes” and here we are. A small testament to the power of conversations and collaboration.

In this new age of social media, when you interact with others and comment with intention, share content you genuinely found useful, or acknowledge someone else’s perspective, you’re doing more than filling a feed. You’re building visibility rooted in value.

That kind of engagement:

  • Signals credibility to peers and audiences
  • Extends reach beyond your immediate network
  • Encourages reciprocal dialogue rather than one-way broadcasting

Over time, these small interactions grow into a loud roar (for all parties involved). They introduce your ideas to new audiences in a way that feels organic, not forced.

Collaboration Strengthens SEO and Authority

From an SEO (search engine optimization) standpoint, collaboration is often more powerful than competition alone.

Backlinks earned through genuine relationships carry more weight than links chased purely for placement. My colleague, blogging expert Ryan Biddulph, will confirm. He’s a big proponent of building backlinks through relationships and high-quality content.

Mentions from respected peers signal relevance and authority. Shared content introduces your ideas into new topical ecosystems. Again, it’s a win all around.

But beyond the technical benefits, collaboration improves the quality of what we publish. Conversations spark better ideas. Exposure to different perspectives challenges assumptions. Co-created content often goes deeper because it reflects lived experience, not just research.

Search engines are getting better at recognizing that kind of depth.

Community Helps Combat Burnout and Isolation

One thing that doesn’t get talked about enough in digital marketing and content creation is how isolating and exhausting the work can be.

Many of us spend hours behind screens, creating, blogging, posting, optimizing, publishing, analyzing, often with little feedback beyond analytics dashboards. That isolation can quietly lead to burnout, self-doubt, and a constant feeling of chasing the next thing.

Community changes that.

Knowing others are navigating the same challenges makes the work feel more human. Encouragement matters. Being seen matters. Supporting others reminds us why we started creating in the first place, not just to rank, but to contribute.

When you post content online, be ready to talk about it.

When you post content online, be ready to talk about it. Be ready to talk about the content others post. Be ready to meet people, offer them advice and feedback, and otherwise connect. It will help you avoid the negative side effects of your work, and you’ll help others out along the way.

Small Actions Create an Impact That Grows and Lasts

Support doesn’t have to be complicated or transactional. It doesn’t have to be forced. Growth should be fun and filled with purpose.

It also doesn’t have to be super complex. In fact, it’s often the little things that drive the most growth. Sometimes it looks like:

  • Sharing a post that resonated with you
  • Leaving a thoughtful comment instead of a generic one
  • Mentioning someone’s work in your own content
  • Linking to a resource because it genuinely helps readers

Individually, these actions seem small. Collectively, they create momentum, trust, reach, credibility, and resilience that no algorithm update can fully take away.

Growth Is Stronger When It’s Shared

There will always be competition in digital marketing and content creation. That’s not going away, and it shouldn’t. But competition doesn’t have to come at the expense of collaboration.

In an algorithm-driven world, community-driven growth is often the most sustainable strategy we have. Supporting one another doesn’t dilute your voice, it amplifies it. It doesn’t slow progress, it strengthens it.

And maybe most importantly, it makes the work more meaningful. Often, it makes it feel like it’s not “work” at all.

Because at the end of the day, the digital space isn’t just built on content and code. It’s built on people.

I want to thank Anthony for sharing on this important topic. Let me hear from you. What are your thoughts on growing stronger together in support in digital marketing and content creation?
