Lives changed in the 2018 New York Marathon
In this real-life moment blog, let’s discuss how you can be just the right person to help someone else just because you were there. Who would have known that an athlete from Minnesota, Kristie Elfering, 41, would come across the path of New York marathoner, Dr. Ted Strange at the 16th mile of the 2018 New York marathon? Christie had just passed out and was actually having a heart attack. Dr. Strange knew as he was running by, he had to stop and help. He was there not because of coincidence but because God had him there to help this fellow runner who could die.
He along with FDNY, helped in resuscitating Kristie back to life and stable enough to be transferred to a local nearby hospital. This moment was life changing for them both. Dr. Strange being at the right place at the right timing and Kristie not even knowing what was happening would suffer a heart attack and be bought back to life.
Dr. Strange would go on to finish the race but rather overcome with emotions as he thought of all that just took place. It really is an incredible thought to know that you can be impactful in another’s life by being there, even to the point of saving them. God has purpose for where we are and can use our talents and knowledge to help others. In the same way, God will bring specific people in our lives to help us.
Allow this real-life moment to not only encourage you, but ignite you to a place of recognition to the fact I am where I am on purpose and for purpose. God will use these everyday moments for us as much as use us for these moments. Let me hear how this story how encouraged you. Share your experiences here with me. Let’s continue to take a moment together and encourage others.
