Let’s be honest there are many people who treat their bodies in their 20s, 30s, and honestly even 40s as if they are invincible. Sure, it makes sense, well, to a degree it does. But you should keep in mind that there’s this whole “oh, it’s fine, I’ll deal with it later” mentality, like the body’s just going to stay loyal no matter what is thrown at it. You’ve got the late nights, barely any sleep, energy drinks, stress (so much of this), random pains getting ignored for months, it’s all seen as normal. It’s amazing what the human body can do when you’re young, right?
While it’s great if you’re currently feeling fine, but it might surprise you to hear that whatever you’re neglecting now may come back to and cause problems later for you. Now, sure, people know about self-care and self-care tips to help out with certain aspects like mental health, skincare, hair, and things like that. But you need to think about your body as a whole in general.
Health Now Sets the Tone for Later
In all honesty, it’s kind of funny how the tiny stuff adds up so quickly without anyone noticing. Well, funny and scary too. For example, things like skipping sleep because there’s too much to do, convenience meals becoming a lifestyle, no check-ups for years, brushing off little things as “it’ll go away on its own”, it all stacks quietly. But yeah, one tiny habit turns into five, then twenty, and then one day a doctor casually mentions something that could’ve been prevented, and that moment hits like “oh wow, okay, didn’t expect that”.
Your Wallet Feels it Too
People forget that health issues don’t just affect the body; oh no, it’s absolutely going to go much further than that. They affect the bank account too, and honestly, sometimes the financial hit is even worse. Plus, medical bills are no joke either, and they don’t care how busy life was, or that someone “didn’t have time” to look after themselves earlier.
Basically, one health thing pops up, and then here come the appointments, tests, medications, specialists, lifestyle changes, and then missing work on top of that. All of this sounds like an absolute nightmare, right?
Don’t Count on Coverage to Fix Everything
Yeah, this one absolutely needs to be addressed! So, there’s this mindset that health insurance is going to magically fix everything in the future, like it’s a safety net that will cover every problem. This idea needs to get out of people’s heads. Why? Well, it just won’t magically solve these financial issues. Seriously, even the best Medicare plans can only support what care is needed, but they can’t undo years of pushing the body too far.
So, it can’t be stressed enough here, but insurance isn’t a reset button; it’s not going to suddenly hand over a brand new immune system, or erase chronic issues that built up from being ignored. While, yeah, sure, coverage helps ease the burden, absolutely, but it can’t do the part that only taking care of the body earlier can do.
So, what’s the message here? Well, you don’t need to be perfect; you absolutely do need to plan ahead. Your future self deserves some kindness, and taking better care of yourself is honestly the best way to start.

Don’t let anyone or anything make you believe you are stuck.
There is always another way.
Keep pressing on and find it.
