I must admit I was extremely excited to travel to San Diego to attend Comic-Con International this year. You see, after 4 years of not attending, among thousands, I was thankful to obtain 3-day tickets (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) to attend and enjoy. I also was able to attain a nearby hotel (Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego) pretty much within walking distance. This was not only a much-needed vacation but an enjoyable experience. Let’s take a moment to discuss, “MY THOUGHTS ON SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL 2023.”
Due to the writers and actors on strike, I noticed that San Diego’s Comic-Con’s line-up was going to be very different. However, I was very happy they would not cancel but went with the hope it would still be an enjoyable time.
SOME OF MY FUN EXPERIENCES
There are many things that I could include, but I wanted to mention some experiences that I genuinely enjoyed over the 3-day pass.
I was able to appreciate some of the outdoor experiences on Wednesday. Walking along the San Diego Bay area from the hotel, I noticed some experiences that I wanted to check out the next day. I was also able to pass by the IMBD ship. Wednesday evening, one outdoor experience I was able to attend was the Paramount+ Lodge experience. This was pretty much a free coffee and photo op too.
Thursday, I noticed a Dragon Ball Super Hero experience where you received a free bag and an opportunity for a photo. Next, there was Voodoo Ranger experience. The Hulu Animayhem experience was a fun walk-through to experience. I received a knapsack, pins and enjoyed taking photos as I walked through too.
Next, I was able to find the pinball gaming experience. After walking back outside I was able to walk through the WhatNot experience and also found the Peanuts experience outside too. Thursday was so much fun enjoying some of the experiences.
PANELS
There were some more experiences I really appreciated at the con Friday, Saturday and Sunday. These included: panels.
Hall H is usually a very BIG deal every year at SDCC. However, due to the strike and a different lineup than expected, the crowd was not overbearing, and you did not have to wait in long lines to get into the Hall. The main panel I enjoyed at Hall H was, “Collider’s “Directors on Directing” panel with Justin Simien (director of Dear White People, Bad Hair, and Haunted Mansion), Gareth Edwards (director of The Creator, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Godzilla), and Louis Leterrier (director of Now You See Me, The Incredible Hulk, and Fast X). I am most interested in seeing how “The Creator” will be when it previews.
However, I did have to wait on a long line for Star Wars Outlaws. I had to get there for the prior panel in order to get seats. I also enjoyed the DC panel discussion.
Lastly, I honestly love walking on the showroom to see a variety of comics, artwork, cosplay and more. Although there may not have been many experiences to enjoy even on the showroom, I still enjoyed walking through it. There were many photo ops, giveaways and more.
Lastly, I want to share 2 really special moments for me at San Diego Comic-Con International. I was completely honored to attend the HerUniverse fashion show for the first time ever this year. I also was able to collaborate with HeadphonesThoughts and NoLoadTime on an interview with Senior Marketing Manager Justin Cavender of Bandai Namco Toys and Collectibles America Inc.
I look forward to sharing more regarding the HerUniverse fashion show and interview with Justin Cavender of Bandai Namco Toys and Collectibles and Nanoblocks. Stay tuned for these posts to be released very soon.
Thank you for being on this journey with me. I am so blessed to have attended this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International. Let me know your thoughts and have you attended “Comic-Cons” before too? Do you enjoy specific comics and/or gaming? I would love to hear your experiences too.
Make sure you are following me on all my social media and check out No Load Time’s coverage of SDCC 2023 too.
