This year at San Diego Comic Con 2023, I was honored to collaborate with HeadphonesThoughts and NoLoadTime for an interview with Justin Cavender of Bandai Namco Toys and Collectibles America Inc. We each were able to incorporate some questions and acquired some fun facts.
As the interview went on there were some stand-out moments that I would like to share with each of you.
As the interview went on there were some stand-out moments that I would like to share with each of you. Justin Cavender shared the importance of providing interactive experiences, and exclusive products designed for fans of all ages and interests for those attending the convention. For example: The cat bus looked like fun. There was a Sandland film that he mentioned was premiering this month (August 2023) that was present there too. There were collectable figures for Marvel fans – i.e. Spiderverse/Spider-Gwen, Star Wars and more. He also mentioned the Dragon Ball immersive experience and the Studio Ghibli booth filled with much loved memorabilia and even the nostalgic stylized Tamagotchis.
We each appreciated listening as Justin shared about some of the noticeable statues, incorporating video games franchises, building model kits at workshops, touch-and-try stations, free giveaways, and amazing photo ops like at the Studio Ghibli booth included at SDCC23. Many fun things for people attending to remember both at the outdoor and indoor experiences.
Nanoblocks are the original micro-sized building blocks and were some of my personal favorites. I appreciated Justin discussing these exclusive comic-con products and more as well. Funny to consider these items are so small a tweezer is needed for assembly.
I really appreciated when Justin mentioned that community is very important. During the interview, you will hear Justin say how this all began over 40 years ago and where it is heading. The home base is in Japan. They will be opening a new store soon in New York City. Also, there are new projects, items and more that are upcoming. Perhaps we will see Bandai Namco Toys and Collectibles America come to Central Florida too.
