New Year Perspective: Reflecting on Lessons, Faith, and Hope for the Year Ahead

As we step into a brand-new year, I find it meaningful to pause and reflect on the year behind us. Every season of life carries lessons, and this past year certainly reminded me of that truth. Some moments required perseverance through difficulty, while others stretched my faith in new ways. Together, let’s take a moment to reflect on what I call a New Year perspective—one shaped by growth, gratitude, and hope.

Moments of Reflection and Life Lessons

I believe it’s essential to remain teachable. When we resist learning, life has a way of gently—or sometimes firmly—reminding us that growth is necessary. This past year reinforced that lesson for me in many ways.

Early in the year, I began experiencing some unexpected physical challenges. I noticed pain in my hands along with other unfamiliar symptoms. After bloodwork, it became clear that something autoimmune-related was going on. While I never received a definitive diagnosis, there are moments when you simply know your body is trying to tell you something isn’t quite right.

Adjustments became necessary. I learned to navigate pain, introduced new strength-training exercises, and made additional changes to my diet. This was not always easy, especially since I already live with digestive sensitivities that require me to eliminate certain foods. Still, I remain grateful—thankful that I can enjoy what I can eat and that my appetite remains strong. Gratitude truly shifts perspective.

Walking With Others Through Difficult Seasons

This year also brought heartache as I watched someone I care deeply about endure a very difficult work environment. Sadly, unkind leadership still exists, and it can take a toll on those under it. I was relieved and grateful when they chose to leave that toxic situation and are now thriving. It reminded me how powerful prayer, encouragement, and simply being present can be in someone else’s journey.

Another deeply sobering moment for our family was learning that a loved one had developed cancer—and then losing her shortly before Christmas. It all happened so quickly, and the news felt like a whirlwind. While we miss her dearly, we are thankful she is no longer suffering. We hold firmly to the hope of heaven and the promise that we will see her again.

Faith, Ministry, and Stepping Into the New Year

For those who may not know, I work alongside my husband at Resplendency, an online ministry, and this year required us to stretch our faith in new ways. We made several significant decisions—steps that required prayer, courage, and trust in God. As we close out this year, we are grateful for the progress we see and hopeful as we walk confidently into the new one.

Gratitude for Community and Looking Ahead

One of the greatest sources of encouragement for me continues to be you—those who follow along on this writing journey. I truly enjoy collaborating, sharing guest posts, and bringing you along to conferences and events I attend. Being part of the writing community is an honor I never take lightly.
