During this Christmas season, it is a great time of giving and receiving for many. Giving can bring great joy to the one who is sincerely grateful in giving to others. There is also an important aspect to receiving. It is a kind gesture of receiving the gift from a generous giver. In these holiday moments, I am taking time to reflect on when I had to receive from others in my time of need.
Let’s take a moment to discuss the life lesson regarding giving and receiving. I honestly know and have experienced God’s faithful hand in many ways over the years! There were times that I can remember when I was the one in need and had to learn how to receive. Oh my, that season was so incredibly humbling yet rewarding all at the same time. My faith stretched so much, that I experienced another level of miracles that I just will not forget. There were individuals not aware of what my family and I were facing and just because God prompted them; they blessed us; whether it was food, clothing, toiletries, cash to pay bills, etc. It is something you cannot put into words because you know that you were NOT looking or depending upon anyone or anything else BUT God!!!
The rewards of all of this come when you can do the same for others genuinely. Not for the praise of man but secretly in obedience to God’s leading. You decide to do to others just as others did for you! You see before walking through this level of testing, it was already a great joy to be a blessing in secret but it has caused me to see even deeper the other side of being in need and receiving from others.
I believe it’s important that we keep ourselves tender-hearted with a capacity to be ever-learning. As much as we may believe we know or understand, we can always learn more. I believe these lessons are for our good. There is an ability to give and receive, and be stretched in faith in both. This can only do in us what we could not have genuinely done for ourselves. So the next time you find yourself at a place of testing and in a season of learning more; I encourage you to submit yourself to God quickly and humbly. Allow these lessons in life to only bring you up higher and enable you to encourage others sincerely without contradiction. Remain teachable and tender-hearted. Soon enough you come out of the season and are now ready to reciprocate all that you received!
This Christmas and throughout the upcoming new year, give generously and receive with a sincerely grateful heart. Learning to give and receive are important lessons in life. I believe it’s important to give without any expectation to receive in return. Also, when you receive from others, remember to show gratitude. Tell me your story. Have you faced moments when you had need and learned to receive from others. Thank you for taking moments with me.
