I must admit, I was looking forward to watching the “Wish” movie. What I appreciated the most was there was an encouraging message that I took away from it. Take a moment with me to discuss, “My Thoughts on Disney’s Wish movie.”
We are introduced to Asha who wants to help her community to see their wishes come true. She especially wants to see her mother and grandfather experience their wishes. There is an evil king who takes ownership of each person’s wish who lives in this community.
After wishing upon a star for assistance with the evil King and the pain of seeing others not have their wishes, she experiences an actual star come to help her. She has a pet goat who starts talking and other unique experiences when this very cute star comes down to accompany her.
Overall, I would give this film a 7 out of 10 and recommend you go and see it. Arianna Debose did a great job as “Asha.” Although, I do not like the aspect of magic in the film, I liked the message and appreciated that it included comedy and gave a glimpse of remembrance of other Disney films from the past. The story had me crying as it caused me to consider that I am not to give my hope/wishes away but remain determined to go forward in dreams, wishes, and desires.
