SEASONAL SELF-CARE BLOGGING COMMUNITY COLLAB

Self-care is vital during any season. Joining with some other bloggers this summer from the blogging community, we wanted to discuss some important tips to keep in mind as we are in the middle of the hot summer months. At the end of my blog you will find links to their blogs discussing on self-care this summer. I do not want you to miss any of these important tips so please make sure you read everyone’s blog post about it. I also really appreciate Caroline (Envirolineblog) and Allison (The Nutmeg Diaries) for putting this collaboration together.

Three important self-care tips I want to discuss for the summer months all include the importance of “Hydration.” These suggestions include: 1) drinking enough water, 2) hydrating your skin, and 3) eating foods that provide hydration.

Self-Care summer tip 1) Drinking Enough Water

Drink Enough Water

Some of us are dehydrated and we may not even realize it. Although, for the most part you may be drinking water during the day, are you having enough? I want you to consider this every day we should try to drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound we weigh. (For example: a person weighing 150 pounds, will need to drink 75 to 150 ounces of water a day). Also, please keep in mind that you should not drink this amount all at once. We are to be in taking fluids throughout the day to maintain proper hydration, but the best fluid to have is water.

Self-Care summer tip 2) Hydrating Your Skin

Keep Your Facial Skin Hydrated

In the summer, you’re dealing with a variety of elements including hot temperatures, perhaps increase in sweating and in general maybe some outings, such as going to the beach, the pool, etc. During this time, it is so important to make sure you are keeping your skin hydrated. Your skin is an organ and we need to take good care of it. I would suggest making sure you increase moisturizing your skin with hydrating lotion, and especially remember your face too. There is a specific facial hydrating sulfate-free coconut cleanser that I use and would suggest. It has lightweight oils to make sure your face is kept hydrated and soft. It is called: “Skinfix Barrier+ Foaming Oil Cleanser.” For more about this product go to: SKINFIX

Self-Care summer tip 3) Eating Foods that Provide Hydration

Eat Hydrating Fruits

It is in the summer months that you can find some wonderful hydrating foods. Some of these include: watermelon, cantaloupe, grapefruits, strawberries, pineapples, peaches, and more. How many of you enjoy eating fruits in the summer. Share some of your favorites in the comment section. Hydrating yourself with foods will help you with the possibility of becoming dehydrated.

I want to include how to recognize dehydration.

Symptoms of dehydration in adults and children include:

  • feeling thirsty.
  • dark yellow and strong-smelling pee.
  • feeling dizzy or lightheaded.
  • feeling tired.
  • a dry mouth, lips and eyes.
  • peeing little, and fewer than 4 times a day.

Remember you can avoid dehydration with mindfulness to hydrate throughout the day by drinking enough fluids. You must remember to keep you skin hydrated as well. Also keep in mind you can make sure you are hydrated by eating some delicious fruits this summer.

Now take a moment to read some other bloggers’ thoughts on self-care during this summer season. Make sure you follow them too. We felt it was important to collaborate and encourage you.
