THREE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS DURING THE HOLIDAYS

THREE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS DURING THE HOLIDAYS

The holidays are quickly approaching and for me, this is the most wonderful time of the year. With Thanksgiving and Christmas soon to be here, I wanted to share at least three of my favorite things during the holidays and include some other writers who share their favorite things too. Let’s take a moment together to further discuss, “Three of my favorite things during the holidays.”

During the holidays, there is so much that is quickly taking place. You begin to see so many things in the stores making you very aware of the time of year we are in. As for me, I absolutely love it. You see these times cause me to have precious memories of holidays past and things I really look forward to currently.

My family and I absolutely love to decorate both for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s a wonderful time to bring you to a place of reflection and what really makes you thankful. So, for Thanksgiving, we like to have our home ready for a big family dinner with all the trimmings. We love getting to sit down together and enjoy the special turkey dinner along with all the delicious sides.

It does not feel like a burden but a fun time as we each are working together for our special dinner and time together. As we gather around the table and just appreciate our time together, there are no words for how precious these moments are to me.

Because there are so many things that I can include that are my favorite; I knew for this collaboration, it was important to narrow it down to my three most favorite. These are as follows:

1- Cooking

2-Time with my family

3-Decorating

When it comes to cooking, I especially get joy from the rewards of when the meals and sides are completely done. This included some delicious desserts like apple pie, baked cookies, and cheesecake. You experience the benefits from all your hard labor when it is all said and done. I make sure to have the turkey seasoned well at least 3-4 days ahead of time and then cook the day of Thanksgiving for at least 3-4 hours. The amazing part is to see how much food you can give to your family from one turkey. It blesses my heart to hear everyone saying how tasty it is and how much they are enjoying it. It brings my heart pure joy to feed others and know they really enjoyed the meal. Also, I really appreciate how the family joins in the kitchen cooking and we each are taking part in what we all are about to enjoy eating together as we gather. Whether it is cranberry sauce, rice and beans, potato salad, green bean casserole, or even putting gravy on top; it’s all a great combination and fun to work together on it.

This takes me to my next point, time with my family. As you see, I mentioned earlier we are working together on the meal, setup, and cleanup. It does not feel like a burden but a fun time as we each are working together for our special dinner and time together. As we gather around the table and just appreciate our time together, there are no words for how precious these moments are to me. I love time with my family so much. Each one is a true gift.

Lastly, let me talk about why decorating is also one of my favorite things during the holidays. You see, since I was very young, I have always loved the lights and decorations of Christmas. So, as we prepare for Thanksgiving, we are also preparing for Christmas and the end of the year. These moments of decorating cause me to appreciate why am thankful and take in what I have around me. I am reminded of the meaning of Christmas even as we are taking time to appreciate Thanksgiving as a family.

Let me know what some of your favorite things during the holidays are. What do you enjoy the most and why? Even though the holidays can be stressful and even very difficult, I wanted to take time with you to share what I sincerely appreciate about this time of year. Thank you for taking moments with me.

Now make sure you take a moment to read a few other writers who share what are their favorite things during the holidays. It is so much fun getting to collaborate with others in the writing community.
