PRACTICE PAUSE BREAKS

PRACTICE PAUSE BREAKS

Recently, I had the honor of writing an article for MCWEN (Minority Christian Women Entrepreneurs Network). In this article, I shared that we must take moments to pause. I believe pause breaks are so important. Let’s take a moment to talk about “Practice Pause Breaks.”

What do I mean by practicing pause breaks? Why should we take moments to practice the pause? You see there are so many things in life that are impacting us. We must be intentional and recognize our need to decide to practice pause breaks. For me, it means taking a moment to breathe, consider, and pray. It is when we take a pause, we can pay more attention to not being too quick in our decision-making.

How many of us go about our days and never stop to take a moment to pause, breathe, consider, and pray. For some of us, we might be very quick to overthink what we are facing, or we may take things too lightly. When we practice the pause, we become more aware of everything. We pay attention to what is happening in a different way and may even gain a clearer perspective which leads us in a totally different way. We may avoid pitfalls this way and things we may regret afterward.

I believe when you take a moment to pray to God, you learn to watch your response. Practicing the pause teaches you to ‘think before doing.’ You learn to gain self control. You also pay attention to not be quick to react to others.

I would love to hear your story. Do you practice the pause? Do you see the need and importance of taking breaks. Have you seen the difference when you have not taken a moment to practice the pause? Thank you for taking moments with me.
