Stress can massively impact your life in a variety of ways. Even if you don’t associate your actions or feelings with stress, chances are stress will be affecting you and causing or exacerbating various factors in your life. Let’s take a moment to discuss, “Stress Management and Coping Tips.”

From poor appetite and sleep to increased blood pressure, headaches, and a higher risk of illness and injury, stress can undermine your way of life, so dealing with it head-on and giving yourself coping mechanisms can enable you to work through your issues in a healthy way to improve your health both physically and mentally.

WRITE IT DOWN

When your stressors are confined to your head, there is nowhere for them to go. Keeping everything locked up and in your mind can be detrimental to your mental health and can cause you added worry and strain. Write down everything that is stressing you out so you can take some of the pressure off your mind. When you can see your issues in black and white in front of you, they will automatically become easier to deal with. You can then tackle each issue separately and find the right way forward.

MINDFULNESS

Practicing mindfulness has been proven to help people lower stress and focus on the here and now. Letting yourself become overrun with what-ifs and things you can’t control in that second can quickly become overwhelming. Take some time out and follow mindfulness techniques to help ground yourself and clear your mind allowing you to reduce some of the stress in that moment. If you cannot do anything about it or it doesn’t affect you at that exact time, then it doesn’t need your explicit attention.

TALK TO SOMEONE

Trying to manage stress alone can backfire on you. Instead, your best approach is to find someone you trust to talk to. These can be friends, family members, or healthcare personnel who can hope you get things off your chest. There are intensive outpatient programs to help you battle your addictions or get mental health support if you need it, or talking to a therapist can help you to make sense of everything that is adding to the stress in your life.

BE PROACTIVE

While all the above options can be extremely beneficial, if you aren’t tackling the cause of your stress head-on, nothing will really change. You will notice more benefits in your mental health and stress managing strategies if you are being proactive in dealing with your issues and eliminating them from your life. It might not be instant or overnight, but by being consistent about your approach and making positive changes to stressful situations, you can reap the benefits and enjoy less stress and a happier, healthier life.

Living with high-stress levels isn’t healthy for anyone, and you will notice a sharp decline in your health if you aren’t addressing the stress in your life. Whether it is many small stressors or one large one, share the load, be proactive, and get the support you need to manage it in a beneficial way to thrive, not struggle.

Let me know your thoughts. How is stress affecting you? How are you managing stress? Tell me your coping tips too. I love hearing from you. Thank you for sharing your stories too. Let’s continue to take moments together.

Don’t let anyone or anything make you believe you are stuck. There is always another way.
Keep pressing on and find it.
