THE NUMBERS

THE NUMBERS

Does it seem that at times some are more concerned about “numbers” more than anything else? What do I mean? Let me explain. I understand wanting to reach more and that reflects on the “number” of followers you may have. But there are some that seem to be more interested in the numbers vs genuine impact and interaction. Let’s take a moment to discuss, “The Numbers.”

So let’s be honest, how many of you really are keeping a close count on your followers? Does it bother when you “only” have a certain amount? Is it more important for you to engage with your followers and know that you have a true sincere following who are being impacted by what you share?

I understand it may be felt when your ‘numbers’ lessen and/or having an increase in your audience brings a sense of advancement or success. But my genuine question is to understand why you are doing what you do because that will keep you focused on your purpose. The fact is we all may want a greater audience but let’s not lose why we want to gain more individuals that follow us.

Maintaining a proper balance in all that we do will keep us determined to continue on in what we are doing. To know you have impacted someone else with what you share in your writing or in anything you do, should be what propels you forward to continue in it. For some, there is slow progress and it is applauded as to others there may be a quick overwhelming growth. I have noticed when it is a quick growth, there can be a feeling like a roller coaster of emotions, but then if the numbers dwindle there is sense of devaluation. This should not be.

It is understand that there may be a question to why your numbers lessen after a wonderful growth but that does not mean you have less value or purpose to why you are doing what you have been. This is where you must come to a place of acceptance that you will have both times of great increase and others times of stability while others times there may be a lull or a decrease in numbers. Perhaps, this would be the best time to evaluate what you have been doing and figure out if you need to make changes. It is always important to look at how you can do some things better but don’t make it about you failing.

Something that I think is really important is to also keep in mind I do not have to compare myself to someone else’s success. Remember this is your journey and your passion. Keep in mind your audience and do what you are doing with the mindset that you do have an audience who looks forward to hearing from you and wants to hear and see what you have to say. When someone disconnects be at peace with it and do not take it personal. There may be a time they actually may come back in the future. Either way, accept it and move on. Just as you may have to disconnect from others yourself.

I really felt to write about numbers because we can all get a little discouraged if we are not growing as fast as we would like. We can also wonder why our audience may lessen at times. We all appreciate when we have great numbers but let’s keep in mind the purpose for why we are doing what we do and let’s determine to impact others overall in it.

Let me know your thoughts. Do you find you are really overwhelmed with your numbers each day, week, month, year? It’s understandable wanting to keep track of it but decide to remember your purpose. Tell me how you have reacted to your numbers whether large or small. How did you respond if you lessened in your numbers and let me know what changes you made to have improvements?
